Alex Wagner is an American journalist and author known for her work as co-host of The Circus on Showtime, CBS News contributor, contributing editor at The Atlantic, and anchor of the daytime program Now with Alex Wagner (2011–2015) on MSNBC.

Born in Washington D.C. to parents Tin Swe Thant and Carl Wagner, she is the author of FutureFace A Family Mystery, an Epic Quest, and the Secret to Belonging (One World/Random House). Wagner is a celebrated figure in the media industry for her work on various outlets and her commitment to justice.

Tin Swe Thant and Carl Wagner are the famed parents of Alex Wagner. Ms. Wagner has attributed her love of learning to her parents, who were both educators in Myanmar. Her father is a retired professor of political science, and her mother taught English as a second language.

After the family fled Myanmar in 1988, they eventually settled in Washington D.C., where Mr. Wagner became a policy analyst for the U.S. Agency for International Development and Ms. Wagner attended Georgetown Day School.
